The Case for Choosing an Accredited Coach
Why choosing an accredited coach matters, and how working with one can transform your work and life.
You’ve made the decision. You’re ready to break out of the “same old, same old”, reclaim direction, and live, work and lead your best. You’re looking for a coach to help you achieve the kind of growth you aspire to. This is exactly the kind of work I do. And as of November 2025, I’m proud to say I’ve earned the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Accreditation is by no means the only tool in my coaching kit, but achieving this milestone has me thinking about why working with an ICF-accredited coach can make a difference.
Coaching accreditation = professional standards you can trust
When you work with a coach who holds credentials like ICF accreditation, you know you’re engaging with someone who has met rigorous standards. They’ve put in the hours of training, mentoring, and supervised practice. They adhere to a professional code, and their coaching craft is built around proven methods, ethics, and growth outcomes.
Wisdom grounded in experience counts too. But rigour builds trust, and trust is perhaps the most vital ingredient to establish early on in a successful coaching relationship. Can you imagine beginning a coaching program, concerned about the competency of your coach? You’re unlikely to open up or commit to the process in the way that’s needed to unlock transformative growth.
While competence is just one piece of the trust equation, accreditation means you can trust that your coach is proven to understand all the ingredients that foster growth:
· a safe, confidential foundation for integrity;
· a mutual relationship of openness, care, respect and collaboration;
· effective communication for clarity, insight and maintaining engagement; and
· the ability to spark action that unleashes transformative results.
The evidence is clear: Coaching works
If you get the ingredients of a coaching relationship right, the reward can be profound.
· Many studies show that coaching interventions produce a substantial return on investment (ROI), including improvements in leadership, productivity, and organisational performance.
· A survey by PriceWaterhouseCoopers showed an average ROI seven times that of the cost of coaching, with reported benefits including improvements in performance, relationships, and retention.
· A 2023 survey by ICF found respondents agree (strongly, or somewhat) that coaching helps employees to understand and implement critical organisational initiatives in these times of turbulence, such as upskilling (92%), DEI (80%), well-being (90%), and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) (73%).
These are just a handful of statistics, and although a direct impact is hard to quantify, the research is clear: Coaching works.
What coaching with me looks like
I coach leaders who are ready to stop repeating the same mistakes and be intentional about crafting a work day, career, and life you love.
We’ll co-create a coaching plan to:
Identify what you really want and how you’d like to grow
Review where you are now — how you’re leveraging your strengths, and what patterns might be holding you back
Use targeted leadership assessments or psychometric tools, where helpful, to give greater guidance on goals and target areas — underpinning any assumptions with concrete data
Collaborate on a clear action plan — practical steps you can take straight away.
Keep you accountable and agile as your situation evolves, as reinforcement is key to reshaping patterns.
Together, we’ll work to claim the vitality and conviction to adopt new practices and habits that will kickstart your growth, and keep you on track long after we work together.
